STEAM Urban Birds

Our STEAM program focuses on providing an integrated experience that uses all five threads of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). Our participants learn, create and explore in an environment that mimics work and life!

This session participants will learn about the physics of work and movement by engineering mousetrap cars. They will then experiment with programming as they program motors to drive their vehicles, all while using art to track their progress in a beautiful and engaging way.

Our instructors are experts in their respective fields. Staff this session includes Charles Koenig of the STEM Alliance, Jeanne Tassi, art teacher at Columbia Independent School, and Linda Schust, Ph.D. scientist and former CPS teacher.

Find out about how birds are part of our urban ecosystems, represent the beauty of birds through art, build and hang birdhouses and collect and analyze data about the birds that use them. Fun, fun, fun!
